Amana is a brand of American household appliances. The company was founded in 1934 by George Foerstner in Middle Amana, Iowa. Amana is known for creating appliances that changed American households, including the first upright freezer for the home in 1947 and the first consumer-friendly countertop microwave. Amana is currently owned by Whirlpool Corporation.
